A trauma counsellor and relationship advocate, Christie Bature, has shared her perspective on human needs, discipline, and spirituality, noting that many people often misunderstand what is truly essential for survival.
Speaking during an episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Bature explained that while physical desires are natural, they should not be mistaken for basic needs. “Some people say they can’t survive without sex, but the only thing you can’t survive without is air,” she said.
According to her, there is a clear difference between what the body wants and what the body truly needs. She noted that when people elevate desires above essential needs, it can lead to poor decisions and emotional struggles.
Bature added that self-control plays a key role in maintaining balance in life. She explained that individuals who learn to manage their desires are more likely to build stable relationships and make better long-term choices.
She also spoke about the role of spirituality, stating that spending time in quiet reflection helps individuals understand themselves better. According to her, listening and observing can sometimes be more important than constant speaking, especially when seeking clarity in life decisions.
Bature further explained that many people today are influenced by societal pressures that make certain desires seem urgent or unavoidable. However, she emphasized that discipline and proper understanding can help individuals stay grounded.
