According to a report by Behind the Fame on Sunday Nollywood actor, Jimmy Rolland, has opened up about one of the most painful experiences of his career.
He alleges that a ₦5 million movie production was thrown into disarray after fellow actor, Okele, allegedly failed to honour his commitment.
Rolland explained that Okele was expected on set by 9 a.m., but instead showed up around 1 p.m., visibly intoxicated.
He said this delay severely disrupted production and pushed him to the brink of confrontation on set that day.
He said: “He arrived around 1pm drunk, I endured it, yet he asked me if I was his father to tell him what to do, but we nearly fought over his claimed right. He still in the point that, when did they arrive, are you their father? This matter I swear to God I even wanted to take it up.”
Rolland revealed that the frustration from the financial losses and disrupted schedule pushed him to contact his lawyer.
He seriously considered legal action against his colleague over the breach of professional commitment during the production.
However, he disclosed that he ultimately chose not to pursue litigation after respected figures within the Nollywood industry intervened.
They appealed to him to resolve the matter amicably rather than escalate it through the courts.
His candid account sheds light on the recurring challenges of professionalism, accountability, and trust within Nigeria’s film industry.
He highlighted particularly the financial and logistical toll unreliable colleagues can impose on already tight production budgets.
