According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, May 2, 2026, Alhaji Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has urged members of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement to remain vigilant at polling units ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need for determination and readiness during the electoral process.
He made the statement in Abuja on Saturday during the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement Unity Summit, where he maintained that efforts would be made to prevent any individual from occupying the Presidential Villa through what he described as an illegitimate mandate in the 2027 elections.
He emphasized that the political atmosphere ahead of the elections requires strong commitment from supporters across different camps.
According to him, there are already indications that some individuals within the ruling political structure are making comments suggesting that participating in voting may not be necessary, while instead planning to determine electoral outcomes outside the ballot process.
He further noted that such attitudes point to an intention to manipulate results rather than follow due democratic procedures.
Galadima also referenced the build-up to the 2023 presidential election, recalling that Bola Tinubu was allegedly quoted as having encouraged his supporters to take decisive actions regarding electoral outcomes.
He used the moment to appeal to both international bodies and civil society organisations to pay attention to developments within the country’s electoral environment and remain engaged in safeguarding democratic practices.
He further stated that the current political situation requires heightened awareness, noting that the struggle to protect the country’s democratic structure from what he described in strong terms demands both discipline and coordination.
He stressed that the challenges involved in the political process are significant and require a sustained level of commitment from all stakeholders involved.
He added that global attention is necessary given the nature of the political actors involved, arguing that efforts to stabilize the nation’s democratic system would require both sacrifice and strategic planning from those who are concerned about the direction of governance and electoral integrity.
He said, “I’m alerting the international community with the kind of people that we are dealing with, salvaging a country from the hands of fascists like this is not a small thing. It needs sacrifice. It needs strategy.”……See More
