According to a report by The Sun, on Sunday May 3, 2026, the Archbishop of the Lagos Diocese of the Methodist Church Nigeria, The Most Reverend Dr. Isaac Ayobami Olawuyi, has urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu as his administration continues to face economic challenges, stating that the President should be given more time, adding that he believes the government is performing well so far.
Olawuyi made this statement during the church’s 64th Synod held in Lagos, the theme of the gathering was “I Will Fight For You”, the cleric used the occasion to encourage faith, prayer, and patience among Nigerians who are struggling with the rising cost of living and economic pressure.
He stated that life is full of battles, but victory comes with divine help and explained that just as God helped nations in the past during difficult times, Nigeria can also overcome its challenges through faith and unity, he urged the President to remain focused and not be discouraged by criticism, as long as he is working with a good heart and positive intentions for the country.
The Archbishop addressed concerns about why some well-known clerics have not been openly critical of the government, he said their silence should not be misunderstood, according to him, it is not out of fear, but out of understanding of the nation’s current situation.
He called for patience and collective prayers, stressing that no human effort alone can fix Nigeria’s problems, he advised that President Tinubu should continue his efforts and even consider re-election if he believes in his vision for the country.
“God has given us everything to be happy in life. If the president has a good heart for Nigeria, nobody will prevail over him, he should contest because to me, he has done well so far,” he said……See More
