Morayo Afolabi-Brown has revealed that her successful career in media was largely accidental. She did not set out to work in television, but a chance encounter with the late RDG, the then-CEO of TVC, set her on a new and unexpected path.
As she recounted on #WithChude, she met him at a conference in France, and he was so impressed by her work ethic that he offered her a job as the Director of Programs at TVC a few months later, after her previous employer, HiTV, went under. It was a classic case of being in the right place at the right time, and of having the skills and the drive to seize an unexpected opportunity.
In Morayo Afolabi-Brown’s words: “I was in Cannes, in France, where I met the late RDG. May God bless his memory. And he saw me, he loved my work ethic. Are you ready for the job?’ And I came around and I spoke to Nigel Parsons, who was the CEO at the time. He interviewed me. He said, ‘You know what, I need you to do me a report first. Let’s see what you can even fix in this channel.’ And I did a report for him after four weeks. I presented it to him. He said, ‘Okay, you’re hired based on this. Implement all of this report.’ And that’s how I got into TVC…..See More
