In a recent discussion featured by Arise News, Honourable Uko Nkole, the Chairman of the ADC Legislators’ Forum, spoke about the increasing concerns regarding Nigeria’s political environment and the significance of major democratic institutions ahead of important legal rulings.
Nkole expressed that the forum’s members are quite anxious about what they see as intensifying pressure on opposition parties, especially the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He asserted that the party is not experiencing any internal issues, emphasizing that the obstacles it encounters are mainly caused by outside forces aiming to undermine its framework and sway.
When discussing expectations from the judiciary, Nkole highlighted the necessity for fairness and adherence to the constitution. He pointed out that the Supreme Court plays a vital role in protecting democracy and must remain impartial and unaffected by any external pressures.
He remarked, “We are citizens who follow the law, and we do not anticipate the Supreme Court to ignore injustice.”
Additionally, he reiterated that the ADC is devoted to following due process and will continue to seek legal solutions for conflicts. Nkole mentioned that the party does not plan to give up its platform, expressing belief that justice will ultimately prevail.
