According to a report by Daily Post, on Thursday April 23, 2026, a political analyst, Hassan Ibrahim, has stated that any alliance between two of the major opposition figures could pose a serious challenge to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Ibrahim explained that an Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi partnership would be especially strong if they decide to work together, according to him, such a combination would give the opposition both national reach and strong regional backing.
He stated that Atiku has wide political presence across different parts of the country, while Obi enjoys strong support in key regions, especially among young voters and in parts of the South.
The analyst noted that combining these strengths could significantly improve the opposition’s chances at the polls, he added that unity among leading candidates remains a key factor in determining the outcome of the 2027 election.
Ibrahim stressed that the opposition must carefully manage its internal ambitions if it hopes to mount a serious challenge.
