Ngozi Samson, a resident of Lokogoma in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has recounted the frightening moments leading up to a kidnapping incident in her neighbourhood, revealing that she had noticed suspicious movements hours before gunmen struck.
Samson shared her experience during an interview on Arise News, on Saturday, 6 June, 2026, while narrating how suspected kidnappers allegedly surveyed the area before launching their attack. According to her, the incident has heightened fears among residents who continue to grapple with security concerns in parts of Abuja.
Describing what she observed on the day of the attack, Samson said, “When I was coming back from work, I noticed a Keke man with one other guy inside the Keke. They drove down to that our side. I told him this one these people are walking down by this time of the night, I hope everything is ok. They said they came to check something.”
She explained that the response from the men did not immediately raise alarm, but events that unfolded later in the night suggested they may have been carrying out surveillance ahead of the operation.
Recounting the attack, Samson said residents were jolted awake by the sound of gunfire as the assailants attempted to gain access to the compound.
“We were asleep when we heard gunshots. I think they were trying to penetrate and enter the compound through the back before the officers came,” she said.
Her account highlights the growing concerns over security in some Abuja communities, where residents have repeatedly called for increased surveillance and a stronger security presence to deter criminal activities.
