Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has claimed that over N7.5 billion was disbursed across local governments and electoral wards in Osun State just days before the governorship election.
He made the statement while commenting on the financial dynamics of the election, which resulted in Ademola Adeleke’s victory over APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji. Fayose said the distribution occurred on the Monday prior to voting, with funds reportedly shared among various local councils and wards—each receiving no less than N35 million.
He pointed out that some wards consist of only seven to nine polling units, emphasizing that the sum allocated per ward was notably large given their size. This allegation follows his earlier assertion that the Accord Party’s campaign spending alone likely exceeded N40 billion.
Fayose reiterated that more than N7.5 billion was channeled to local government areas and wards ahead of the election, with disbursements varying based on the number of polling units in each ward.
His remarks have contributed to ongoing conversations about the scale of financial involvement in the Osun gubernatorial race.
