After Many Losses In Movie Making, I Decided To Quit For Trading -Morenike Alausa

Veteran Nollywood actress Morenike Alausa, popularly known as “Mama Ereko” disclosed in an interview with Africanalist how multiple losses made her quit movie making. Even though she has always been fascinated by it.

In her words, “I love theatre. Movies fascinate me. My first movie was in 1996. I didn’t make money from it. I sold it for 100,000 thousand naira but only 1,000 naira was paid out of it.

“The marketer, Lady Prince, requested I promote Pasuma but I couldn’t make a complete payment; it remained 10,000 naira. I believed I’ll be able to pay him the rest of the money after my show at the National Theatre.

“Unfortunately, I didn’t make money because the Master of Ceremony (MC) didn’t coordinate as he should. His action sabotaged my chances of reaping anything from the show. I almost fainted, knowing what I had lost.”

Mama Ereko shared how much she loves Pasuma, their relationship together and how she decided to quit acting for trading.

She said, “Pasuma knows I love him. I invited him for one of my movies titled Alenibare. He came from Germany to work for me, even though he still had things to do there. Despite this, he came to feature in my movie.

“When Pasuma finished working for me, I cried and hugged him. It felt like he shouldn’t go.”

“After many losses in movie making, I decided to quit entertainment for trading. I started buying clothes in Cotonou and reselling them in Ibadan. I did this for seven years without acting.

“In the year 2002, I started falling in love with movie making again. The movie (Esan) I produced in 2004 was a success but the marketers of the movie did not pay me…..See More
