A report from Anadolu Agency on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, states that Iran’s armed forces have issued a stern warning to the United States, indicating they are entirely prepared to take immediate action if Washington undertakes any new military efforts against Iran.
According to statements aired by Iranian state television, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, who is the spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, made this declaration early on Wednesday. He remarked that the Iranian military is in what he referred to as “complete readiness” and is poised to target specified sites without hesitation in the event of an attack.
“Our strong and capable forces have been in a state of full readiness for a long time and are ready to act,” Zolfaghari stated in remarks widely disseminated through state media outlets.
He also cautioned that any hostile move against Iran would lead to an immediate and powerful retaliation. He stated that Iranian forces would “instantly and forcefully strike pre-decided targets” if the U.S. or its allies launch an assault on the country.
This warning follows increased tensions between Tehran and Washington, particularly after recent events related to a ceasefire agreement and maritime limitations. Earlier in the week, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States would prolong its ceasefire agreement with Iran. This decision came after a request was communicated through Pakistani officials, indicating ongoing indirect diplomatic interactions between both parties.
Trump also confirmed that the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports would continue to be enforced. He mentioned he had ordered American forces to maintain these restrictions until Tehran offers what he called a “unified proposal” that meets Washington’s approval.
The mix of military threats and persistent economic and maritime pressures has created a tense atmosphere in the region. Iran’s recent statement seems designed to serve as a deterrent, highlighting its state of readiness while responding to ongoing U.S. sanctions and military presence in the area.
