Nollywood actress Peju Johnson has addressed the issue of deceit in relationships, stating that many gay men in Nigeria enter into marriages with women without disclosing their sexual orientation.
Johnson highlighted this societal observation while discussing the themes present in her latest film project.
Speaking in an interview published by PUNCH, she noted that such men often maintain relationships with their male partners during the marriage, which can sometimes lead to the mistreatment of their unsuspecting wives.
The actress strongly advised against this form of deception, emphasizing that it is unfair to the women involved.
She asserted that not every woman would be willing to accept such an arrangement if given the full truth.
Her words: “There are many gay men in Nigeria who get married to women without letting them know they are gay, while keeping their actual partners during the marriage and sometimes mistreating their wives. They should stop deceiving women. Not every woman can actually settle for that.”
The actress’s comments came amidst a separate discussion about the backlash she received over a romance scene in her new movie.
