A commercial tricycle rider from Imo State, identified as Chijioke has shared details of the terrifying kidnap ordeal that altered his life after he returned to Nigeria from Malaysia.
Speaking during an interview with Punch Newspapers, Chijioke narrated how he was ambushed by armed men shortly after visiting his hometown in Imo State in 2019.
According to him, the incident happened after he stepped out to fix his vehicle tyre, unaware that he was being targeted by kidnappers.
“I went to pump my tyre. After pumping the tyre then on my way going home, I was double-crossed with Pathfinder jeep. Four boys came out with AK-47. So they now carried me and used my singlet to tie my eyes. I couldn’t see anything so they used their gun to hit me and took me to unknown location,” he said.
Chijioke explained that the attack left him traumatized and changed the direction of his life completely. He said the kidnappers blindfolded and assaulted him before taking him away to a hidden location where he was held captive.
The Imo indigene noted that the experience caused severe emotional and financial hardship for him and his family, who later struggled to meet ransom demands for his release.
After eventually regaining freedom, Chijioke said he could no longer continue with the plans he had after returning from Malaysia. Instead, he remained in Nigeria and began operating a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke, to survive……See More
