According to a report by Vanguard on Thursday, May 21, 2026, ASP Newton Isokpehi, the police officer who threatened to shoot anyone that films him while he is on duty, has apologized to Nigerians over his threat
In a video Isokpehi shared, he said there was a time when he joined 16 personnel on an operation. He said only he and one other personnel came back alive while the rest were killed.
Isokphehi also showed gunshot wounds on different parts of his body and said they were injuries he suffered during operations
Isokpehi appealed to Nigerians and activist Harrison Gwamnishu to forgive him for the threat he made. He also said Nigerians have the legal right to record police officers while on duty
