William Folorunso Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has called on Christians to remain steadfast in the teachings of Jesus Christ, warning against doctrines that place newer revelations above Christ’s direct instructions.
Speaking in a recent YouTube sermon based on Matthew 28:18–20, Kumuyi reminded believers that Jesus commissioned His followers to spread the gospel, make disciples, baptize converts, and teach obedience to His commands. He described this commission as a continuing obligation for the Church, insisting that it remains fully relevant today.
The veteran preacher voiced concern over what he sees as an increasing tendency among some ministers to exalt Apostle Paul’s writings while diminishing the significance of Jesus’ teachings. He argued that such a position is misguided because the revelations received by Paul came from Christ Himself, making them inseparable from the Lord’s authority.
Kumuyi further criticized claims of superior spiritual revelations that go beyond Scripture, saying some individuals now place their personal insights above the teachings of Christ, Paul, and the Holy Spirit.
