Chinagorom Onuoha, a Nigerian musician popularly known as African China, has stated that some of the painful events he witnessed while growing up in Lagos inspired him to write one of his hit songs
In an interview with Yanga FM Nigeria, African China said some of his friends were accused of being armed robbers and killed by members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) without any evidence that they were truly armed robbers
African China stated that he brought together the stories of his friends’ deaths, the 1999 Mile 12 crisis, and other violent incidents he witnessed during that era, and turned them into one of his hit songs.
