Ria Abdul told Chude that some Ghanaians may feel offended when she says Ghana was too small for her dreams, but she insists her decision was about growth, not disrespect. She praised Ghanaian stars like Berla Mundi, Sika and others, but argued that most people only know them widely because they stepped beyond Ghana’s borders.
She said that in entertainment, Nigeria is the reference point across Africa, and that staying only in Ghana would have limited how far she could go, no matter how talented she was.
Ria emphasised that every ambitious person must leave a comfort zone at some point, whether that comfort is a city, a job, or even a country, and for her, that comfort zone was Ghana, which she felt she had outgrown.
