According to a recent video by Arise TV on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Reverend John Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Northern Christians Association, has stated that a Christian-Christian ticket can become normal in Nigeria, just as the Muslim-Muslim ticket is being repeated.
He made this remark during an interview on Arise TV’s Daybreak programme while reacting to the arrest of Umar Ibrahim Gandhi, a youth allegedly seen in a viral video chanting a song calling for the killing of Christians in Zamfara State.
The police arrested the suspect after JIBWIS handed him over for investigation. Reverend Hayab recalled that in 2022, he was among those who expressed Christians’ concerns over the Muslim-Muslim ticket presented by the All Progressives Congress.
He, however, noted that since the ticket is now being repeated, Nigerians should aspire to grow to the point where a Christian-Christian ticket can also become normal.
He emphasised that the law must be enforced on anyone who violates it, regardless of their religious identity, and called for the prosecution of all persons involved in the disturbing video.
His words: “ They are now preparing to repeat it. This simply shows that we remain hopeful that, as Nigerians, we will continue to grow to the point where a Christian-Christian ticket can also become normal and we can all move forward together.”
