Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actress Adenike Sherifat Ayilara has recounted a disturbing encounter with a prophet during her struggle with childlessness.
Speaking in an interview on the Talk to B program hosted by Biola Adebayo, the veteran actress described the incident as one of the toughest experiences she faced while seeking solutions for her fertility challenges.
She explained that upon visiting the prophet for spiritual assistance, he instructed her to kneel down and remove her clothes.
When she questioned the reason, he first asked to see her stomach, which she revealed.
He then demanded that she pull her clothes further so he could examine her breasts, claiming it was necessary to check for any infection.
The actress firmly refused, pointing out that she was unaware of any church practice allowing pastors or prophets to check members’ body.
Despite his insistence that the inspection was purely for health reasons related to her condition, she stood her ground.
The prophet responded by ordering her to leave his presence, and she promptly exited the situation.
Ayilara shared the story to highlight the vulnerabilities many women face when desperately seeking help for infertility, often turning to spiritual leaders in hope of miracles.
Her words: “When I was looking for a child, the toughest experience I had was with a prophet. When I went to see him, he asked me to kneel down and pull off my clothes.
