Mrs Abigail Fafowora, a retired teacher and businesswoman, shared her thoughts on what convinced her to marry her husband.
In an interview with PUNCH, she explained that character was the most important factor in her decision.
Fafowora noted that her husband’s good character was what first won her heart. In her generation, people did not place too much emphasis on wealth or flattering words; integrity was considered a man’s true wealth.
She emphasized that marriage was not something entered into lightly, as love was seen not only as emotions but also as patience, endurance, and commitment. She said she recognized in her husband a man who would remain steadfast when challenges arose, not someone who would walk away.
