Adeboye: He Kept Saying ‘America Wants To Attack Us’ & Advised Govt ‘Don’t Let Them Attack Us’ -Rev Ladi Thompson

Reverend Ladi Thompson, the African Union Regional Director, said Pastor Enoch Adeboye repeatedly framed proposed American involvement in Nigeria’s security crisis as an attack, arguing the description contrasted sharply with how many Christians in Northern Nigeria interpreted such possible intervention instead.

According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Channels Television, while discussing insecurity, Thompson argued that Pastor Adeboye’s description of possible American involvement carried implications requiring closer public examination and careful interpretation by Nigerians.

Thompson maintained that many listeners could easily overlook what he described as a significant distinction within Pastor Adeboye’s remarks, insisting the wording used during the discussion conveyed a particular narrative that deserved closer attention from audiences following the security debate.

During the interview, he stated, “the American intervention was repeatedly captured by Pastor Adeboye as saying, ‘America wants to attack us.’ In Northern Nigeria, Christians were saying, ‘America wants to rescue us.’ You see, to the untrained ear, you may listen to his speech and not pick out that particularity. But when he kept saying that ‘America wants to attack us’ and advised the government, ‘don’t let them attack us,’ he knew what he meant.”

He further argued that Pastor Adeboye repeatedly presented the proposed intervention using the phrase “America wants to attack us,” adding that the advice urging government officials not to permit such an attack reflected what he believed was an intentional message.
