When U.S, British, Other Children Were Kidnapped In 2023, Beyoncé, Other Celebrities Refused To Speak Out In Public -Omokri

Nigerian Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri has reacted to the rescue of abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, drawing a comparison with the response of American celebrities to the abduction of children during the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel.

Omokri made the remarks in a post on his X handle, amid ongoing discussions over the reactions of Nigerian celebrities to the rescue operation.

The former presidential aide’s comments followed earlier criticism of the government’s handling of the abduction by some Nigerian celebrities, including singer Davido. He noted that, following the reported rescue of the victims, some of those who had previously spoken out had yet to publicly react.

In his post, Omokri referenced American singer Beyoncé and other Western celebrities, claiming they did not make public statements while children from the United States, Canada, Britain and other countries remained in captivity.

“Please fact-check me: When Hamas abducted American, Canadian, British and other Western children on Saturday, October 7, 2023, Beyoncé and other American celebrities wisely refused to speak out in public about the event,” he wrote.

He further claimed that Beyoncé publicly celebrated the release of surviving children after they were rescued and later invited some of them to attend her concerts.

“However, as soon as the surviving children were rescued, Beyoncé publicly celebrated their release and even invited some of the children to her concerts,” Omokri stated.

He concluded by urging public figures to be consistent in their responses to national tragedies and positive developments.

“May we not be loud when politicising evil and quiet when others are publicising good!” he added.

Omokri’s comments have generated debate on social media, with differing opinions on the role of celebrities during security crises and whether public commentary should continue after victims have been safely rescued.

It is worth noting that Omokri’s assertions regarding the actions of Beyoncé and other celebrities reflect his personal claims and have not been independently verified in his statement……See More
