This Govt Does Not Want Obi On The Ballot, And He May Not Even Appear In The 2027 Election -Shield

Henry Shield, a political activist, has alleged that there are deliberate efforts to stop former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi from appearing on the ballot for the 2027 general election.

He made the claim during an interview on SYMFONI while discussing recent political and legal developments surrounding opposition politics.

Speaking on the controversy over the court judgment affecting the registration of the NDC, Shield argued that the sequence of events raises serious political questions. According to him, the legal battle did not happen in isolation but followed Obi’s association with the party.

He pointed to the timing of the lawsuit filed by the movement challenging the NDC’s registration, noting that it came shortly after Peter Obi joined the party. Shield suggested that the development was too significant to ignore in assessing the broader political landscape.

According to him, the unfolding events indicate that powerful interests are determined to prevent Obi from participating in the next presidential election. He argued that the actions being witnessed are consistent with what he believes is a coordinated political strategy.

Shield declared, “This government does not want Peter Obi on the ballot, and he may not even appear in the 2027 election.”

He maintained that his conclusion was based on his reading of political events rather than mere speculation.

The political activist said he had previously predicted that court judgments would play a decisive role in the build-up to the 2027 elections. He recalled making similar observations long before some of the recent legal developments affecting opposition parties began to unfold.

Shield further argued that while lower courts could eventually rule in favour of the opposition, the matter may ultimately reach the Supreme Court close to the election period. He suggested that such an outcome could alter the legal status of the party involved before Nigerians head to the polls.

He urged opposition politicians not to dismiss his warning, insisting that they should carefully study the current political environment. According to him, ignoring what he described as emerging patterns could leave opposition parties unprepared for future legal and political challenges.

Throughout the interview, Shield maintained that his comments were intended to alert opposition figures rather than generate controversy. He repeatedly stressed that his concerns were drawn from his interpretation of recent political and judicial developments across the country.

His remarks come amid increasing debates over the role of the judiciary, the future of opposition parties, and preparations for the 2027 general election, with political stakeholders continuing to express differing views on the direction of Nigeria’s democratic process……See More
