During an interview on Trust TV on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Ikenna Azomchine, a former ally of Peter Obi, spoke about a recent meeting he had with the son of President Bola Tinubu and explained why he believes engagement with the presidency could help address some of the concerns being raised by Nigerians.
The former Obi ally also spoke about his relationship with leaders within the Obidient Movement and his efforts to represent the concerns of supporters who, according to him, are seeking practical solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
According to him, “I work directly with Tanko. If I sit here today and tell you what does not exist, then the Obidients are looking at me. The only thing I want to tell Nigerians today is that I sat down with the son of the president yesterday, and I saw something else. I saw a passionate young man; he’s worried, he wants Nigeria to be good.
Azomchine argued that constructive engagement with government officials and influential stakeholders could be more productive than constant criticism without offering alternatives. He stated that Nigerians who desire change should also be willing to contribute ideas and solutions that can improve governance.
He maintained that his decision to engage with individuals close to the presidency was driven by a desire to ensure that the concerns of ordinary Nigerians are heard at the highest levels. According to him, meaningful progress would require cooperation, dialogue, and a focus on practical solutions to the country’s problems.
