Joseph Hayab, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the Northern region, has expressed relief that several Muslim organisations have publicly rejected a controversial video allegedly containing threats against Christians in Enugu State.
Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Hayab discussed concerns surrounding footage purportedly showing a young man leading boys wearing JIBWIS volunteer uniforms in chants threatening violence against Christians.
According to Hayab, the incident has caused concern among Christians, particularly amid debates surrounding religious tolerance and comments attributed to Sheikh Jingir about non-Muslims.
He alleged that the footage showed children threatening to attack Christians with AK-47 rifles while they worshipped in church.
However, Hayab welcomed the response from Muslim groups that had condemned the video and distanced themselves from its message.
He said his personal relationships with Muslims had reinforced his belief in peaceful coexistence, expressing appreciation for those who spoke against the alleged threats.
“I’m so glad that since this video came out, a very large number of Muslim groups have come out to denounce it, to condemn it and to disassociate themselves from it,” Hayab said.
