I Watched Tinubu Yesterday And My 8yr Old Son Who Was Beside Me Said, What’s This Man Saying? -Shaibu

Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his response to the hunger and economic hardship affecting Nigerians, accusing him of failing to understand the challenges ordinary citizens face.

According to a report by Vanguard Shaibu made the comments during an interview on ARISE News, where he questioned the president’s decision to blame opposition parties for the country’s hunger crisis after spending three and a half years in office.

The ADC campaign spokesman argued that the Tinubu administration should accept responsibility for the country’s economic situation instead of shifting the blame to political opponents. He maintained that the government had been in power long enough to be held accountable for the difficulties confronting Nigerians.

Shaibu expressed disappointment with the president’s explanation of the hunger crisis, suggesting that his remarks reflected a disconnect from the daily experiences of citizens struggling with rising living costs and other economic pressures.

During the television interview, the ADC official also shared a personal experience to illustrate his reaction to Tinubu’s comments. He revealed that his eight-year-old son, who was sitting beside him while he watched the president speak, questioned what the president was saying.

According to Shaibu, his son’s reaction reinforced his concerns about the president’s explanation of the country’s economic difficulties.

He argued that blaming the opposition for hunger after several years in government raised questions about the administration’s willingness to acknowledge its responsibilities and address the challenges affecting households nationwide.

Explaining his position during the interview, he said, “I watched him yesterday and my eight-year-old son who was beside me said, what’s this man talking about? He has been in office for three and a half years. And he’s talking about hunger being created by the opposition. I think it is delusional,” he said.
