Hon. Kasimu Maigari, the prominent member of the ADC National Legislators Forum, has publicly criticized the recent exit of Peter Obi from the African Democratic Congress. During a recent interview regarding the state of opposition alliances, the party chieftain expressed his disappointment with the move. He believes that political stability is essential for any candidate hoping to challenge the ruling party in the upcoming elections.

According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Arise News, while reacting to the sudden shift in the political landscape, Hon. Kasimu Maigari stated, “Peter Obi should have stayed in ADC and fought for the ticket.” He further noted that running away from one political party to another because of internal crisis is not the hallmark of a truly resilient opposition leader.

The lawmaker argued that every political party experiences internal friction and that leaders should stay to extinguish the fire rather than abandoning the house. He maintained that the ADC remains a solid platform and that those who believe in a candidate’s vision would have supported them through the primary process. In his view, constant party hopping sends a confusing signal to the Nigerian electorate.

Maigari also suggested that many people following prominent candidates across different platforms are doing so for selfish reasons. He claimed that a large percentage of these followers are simply looking for a popular name to ride on for their own legislative ambitions.
