Temilola Adepetun, a Nigerian economist and successful entrepreneur, has stated that her journey into business was inspired by the challenges of raising her children while working full-time.
In an interview on the WITHCHUDE podcast, Adepetun said the idea first came in 1999 when her eldest son, Damola, was preparing to enter secondary school. She said at the time, she was a working mother with three young children, the youngest only three years old. She explained that while shopping for a long list of boarding house items, she realized there was an opportunity to create solutions for parents facing similar struggles.
Adepetun stated that balancing her career with motherhood pushed her to think differently about everyday needs, and this eventually led to the creation of her business.
She emphasized that her entrepreneurial journey was not born out of luxury but from necessity, showing how resilience and resourcefulness can transform family challenges into thriving ventures.
Her words,
“The business idea came when my first son, Damola—the one that he and Tayo put me up to all of this—was going to secondary school that was in 1999. I was a working mother I had three young children. The youngest was about three, and so I had to shop for him. There was a whole long list of boarding house items. I said, ‘Oh, no problem.’”……See More
