In a recent interview on TVC News, Dotun Oladipo, Publisher of Eagle Online, spoke on emerging political alliances and strategic compromises ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, revealing what he described as a major shift within opposition ranks.
During the interview, Oladipo stated, “Rabiu Kwankwaso said, ‘Peter Obi is going to be the presidential candidate in the 2027 election.’” The remark, he explained, points to ongoing negotiations among opposition figures aimed at presenting a united front in the next general election.
Expanding on the issue, Dotun Oladipo said, “This is not something that just came up overnight. There have been consultations, there have been meetings, and there are ongoing discussions behind closed doors.” He stressed that such political calculations are often the result of long-term strategy rather than spontaneous decisions.
According to him, the reported stance of Rabiu Kwankwaso signals a possible shift in approach among key opposition leaders. “What this suggests is that some leaders are beginning to realize that personal ambition must sometimes give way for collective interest,” he said.
Oladipo further noted, “If the opposition must stand a chance in 2027, they cannot afford to go into the race divided the way they did previously.” He added that unity among major political actors could significantly alter the outcome of the election.
Speaking on the potential role of Peter Obi, Oladipo remarked, “Obi has built a strong base over time, and aligning with other influential figures could further strengthen that position.” He pointed out that Obi’s popularity, especially among younger voters, remains a key factor in ongoing political calculations.
He also emphasized the importance of trust and compromise in coalition-building. “It is not just about endorsements; it is about agreements, understanding, and the willingness to work together despite differences,” he said.
The media publisher added that Nigerian voters are becoming increasingly aware of political dynamics. “People are watching closely. Nigerians want to see seriousness, not just rhetoric. They want to see leaders who are ready to put the country first,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate and influential northern politician, remains a critical figure whose decisions could shape the direction of opposition politics. His alleged backing of Obi, as referenced by Oladipo, has therefore generated significant interest and debate…..See More
