“Peter Obi Has Moved Yet Again, And Those Who Were Misled Will Once Again Follow Him” -Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has launched a scathing critique of Peter Obi following his latest political defection.

Sowore accused the former Anambra State Governor of lacking ideological consistency and leading his followers on a gravy train to nowhere.

The outburst follows the high-profile exit of Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

The move, reportedly motivated by internal crises within the ADC, is seen as the formalization of an Obi/Kwankwaso ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sowore, a long-time critic of Nigeria’s mainstream political class, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disdain for the new alliance.

He referenced a recent opposition gathering in Ibadan as proof that the current realignment lacks genuine substance.

“Last week, Peter Obi was at an opposition summit in Ibadan. We said it clearly then these unprincipled drifters and their structure of criminality have nothing to offer besides empty words,” Sowore wrote.

The AAC leader did not hold back in his assessment of Obi’s political trajectory, which has seen him move from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP), then the ADC, and now the NDC within a few years. Sowore characterized Obi as an opportunist who thrives on misleading his base.

“Now Peter Obi, the captain of the gravy train, has moved yet again, and those who were misled will once again follow the most directionless political opportunist to ever exist in this clime,” Sowore added.

In other words, Sowore believes that Obi’s constant party-switching is evidence of a lack of a clear political compass.

He suggested that Obi’s supporters are being taken on a ride by a leader who prioritizes political survival over stable ideology.

The move to the NDC, where Obi and Kwankwaso were received by party leaders Seriake Dickson and Moses Cleopas, marks a significant shift in the 2027 race.

While supporters of the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements view the NDC as a more stable platform to challenge the ruling APC, Sowore views it as further evidence of a cemetery of human conscience……See More
