‎In a recent interview with The Sun on Sunday, May 3, 2026, Chief Dele Momodu, former presidential aspirant and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called for a completely open contest for the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential ticket, saying every aspirant should be allowed to freely compete without bias or restriction.

‎The former presidential aspirant expressed frustration that ethnicity and religion still play a strong role in Nigerian politics, he said these factors continue to limit national progress and weaken unity.

‎Momodu noted that Nigeria should have moved beyond such divisions, stressing that leadership selection should be guided by competence, vision, and performance rather than identity.

‎He maintained that allowing all aspirants to contest freely would strengthen both political parties and the country’s democracy, according to him, healthy competition produces better candidates and improves governance outcomes.
