Media personality Dedun Oluwo has opened up about the mindset she had before entering marriage, revealing that her expectations at the time shaped how she initially approached the relationship.
Speaking during a recent interview With Chude, Dedun explained that she believed peace and the absence of conflict were enough to sustain a marriage. She admitted that her outlook was largely based on the assumption that marriage would not be significantly different from the relationship phase.
“First of all, I went into that marriage with the mindset of as long as we’re not fighting, everything should be okay, right?” she said.
Her remarks highlighted how she viewed marriage as a continuation of love and companionship, without anticipating deeper challenges that often emerge after couples begin living together. According to her, she assumed that mutual affection and understanding would naturally help both partners navigate any difficulties that arose.
Dedun further reflected that she later considered her perspective to be somewhat naive, noting that she focused more on what was visible in the relationship rather than the deeper realities of married life. She explained that she believed love alone would be enough to resolve issues, without fully appreciating the level of communication, compromise, and adjustment required.
She also recounted that she got married in early 2020, shortly before the COVID-19 lockdown.
