Juliana Olayode, the talented Nigerian actress and author who has become a powerful voice for young women navigating faith and personal resilience, shared one of the most memorable details from her difficult childhood street hawking experience during her interview with Chude Jideonwo on “With Chude,” recounting the exact moment a thousand naira note from a suspicious woman on the street became the money that allowed her to sleep indoors that night.
She explained that as she and her younger brother sat on the ground begging after the plan to pretend she was blind was put into action, different passersby responded in different ways. One particular woman agreed to give them money but performed a spiritual ritual with the notes, passing the money around her daughter’s head three times before handing it over, a gesture that immediately alarmed her younger brother.
According to Juliana Olayode, her brother strongly advised her not to accept the money, fearing that it had been spiritually contaminated. However, she made the pragmatic decision to collect it, immediately declaring the blood of Jesus over it. She noted that the money turned out to be the exact amount she still needed to complete what she owed, and taking it meant she was able to return home and sleep inside that night.
She said: “A particular woman gave us 1,000 naira, but she then put the money around her daughter’s head three times and then gave it to us. My brother was like, oh let’s not collect this money. We shouldn’t take this money. And I was like no, let’s take the money. I took the money and I said blood of Jesus, blood of Jesus. I don’t know, I just said blood of Jesus. And I took the money. That was like the exact money we needed left anyway from the money that people had been giving us. And so that was how I was able to sleep in the house that day.”……See More
