Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Dan Ulasi, has thrown a tough question at the party’s former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking in an interview on Arise TV, Ulasi said Wike must now clearly state whether he will support the PDP or the All Progressives Congress if the party picks a presidential candidate.
Ulasi explained that the issue is not about Wike staying in the PDP, but about his actions going forward. He said if someone else becomes the PDP presidential candidate, the party needs to know what Wike will do as a leader.
The big question is whether Wike will attend PDP rallies and the party’s convention. Or if he will instead show up at APC events and campaigns. Ulasi noted that this is the problem the PDP has with Wike, and it is one he must explain without delay.
According to Ulasi, it does not matter if the presidential candidate is him or another person. The party needs loyalty and clear direction from all its top members. He warned that keeping everyone guessing will only hurt the PDP ahead of the next elections.
Ulasi’s comments add to growing talks that Wike has been working too closely with some APC leaders. Many in the PDP now want him to come out straight and say where he truly belongs.
Ulasi made it clear that the party cannot move forward with a leader whose loyalty is in doubt. He said the time for games is over, and Wike must choose a side.
His words: “Supposing, like I said earlier, I or somebody else emerges as the presidential candidate of the PDP, what will he be doing as leader of the party? Will he attend our convention? Will he attend our rallies, or will he be going to that of APC? So that’s the problem Wike has to explain.”…..See More
