In a recent video on Church Gist, renowned Nigerian cleric and founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has urged Christians to deepen their spiritual approach to prayer by engaging what he described as the “communion dimension” rather than constantly pleading with God.
Speaking during a recent teaching session, Oyedepo emphasised that believers must grow beyond a pattern of prayer that revolves around repeated requests without spiritual understanding. According to him, communion with God involves reasoning with scripture, presenting spiritual arguments, and drawing from biblical knowledge when faced with challenges.
During the message, the cleric referenced Isaiah 43:26, which encourages believers to “put God in remembrance” and present their case. He explained that this approach reflects a mature relationship with God where faith is strengthened through knowledge of His word.
“It is time to stop begging God like children; engage the communion dimension to get your answers,” Oyedepo said while addressing the congregation.
To illustrate his point, the bishop shared a personal testimony involving a life-threatening situation concerning his daughter. He explained that instead of panicking, he calmly reflected on scriptures he had previously studied, which immediately came to mind and strengthened his faith in that difficult moment.
According to him, believers who consistently study the Bible are spiritually equipped when challenges arise, while those who neglect spiritual preparation often struggle during crises.
Oyedepo also encouraged Christians to shift their mindset from constantly asking for help to learning how to access divine solutions through spiritual understanding.
