Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has condemned what she described as the double standards in the way men and women are treated when it comes to cheating in marriage. She said if men are forgiven for being unfaithful, women should also receive the same forgiveness, as reported by THE CABLE.
This was contained in a post she shared on her Instagram page She reacted after a video showed a master of ceremonies (MC) speaking to a couple, Thomas and Mirabel, during a marriage-related event.
In the video, the MC told the wife that if she cheated on her husband while he was away for months, she would “die and run mad.” However, he told the husband that if he cheated on his wife, God would forgive him because he did not do it intentionally.
Reacting, Edochie said she was angry over the remarks and expressed hope that the video was only a joke or a skit. She added that if men can be excused for cheating, women also deserve the same grace, mercy, and forgiveness, stressing that there should be no gender inequality.
Here’s what she said,
“I am very angry. This morning, I pray this is just a joke and content. Look, if men can be excused because they are polygamous by nature, then women deserve the same grace, the same mercy, and the same forgiveness. Enough of this gender inequality….See More
