Buba Galadima, a leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), explained why many northern Nigerian political actors have endorsed Mr. Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, according to a Daily Post article published on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
According to him, the area thinks that a joint presidential ticket with Rabiu Kwankwaso and Obi offers the best chance to tackle Nigeria’s present problems and advance national healing and reconciliation throughout the nation.
In an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time program on Wednesday, Galadima said these things.
He said that because many people in the North consider the Obi-Kwankwaso combination to be capable of providing efficient leadership and rekindling trust in the country’s political system, discussions regarding the partnership have attracted interest.
The NDC chieftain said that the support being expressed for Peter Obi is not based on ethnic or religious affiliation.
He contended that the stand taken by those supporting the party’s presidential nominee is based on political strategy and the belief that the proposed coalition offers a workable route toward enhancing governance and reinforcing national unity.
He went on to say that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket is seen as a means of bridging long-standing gaps between Nigerians.
Galadima stated that the suggested cooperation has the capacity to bring together citizens from various walks of life, ease political conflicts, and foster a new feeling of national unity.
The NDC supporter further emphasized that those who back the coalition want reconciliation, not greater differences.
According to him, the emphasis is still on developing a leadership framework that can solve the nation’s pressing problems and establish a setting in which Nigerians may put aside their previous political and social conflicts.
According to Galadima, those promoting the idea of the ticket are driven by the notion that Nigeria needs leadership that prioritizes national interests over regional ones.
He argued that feelings based on identity should not influence political judgments; instead, they should be guided by skill and a wish to advance the nation’s destiny.
“I don’t want to bring up religion or tribe in my politics, but we’re getting called a lot of names,” he stated. It’s possible that you’ll never find out. We’ve been having this disagreement here in this region of the country……See More
