Maxwell Opara, the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, House of Representatives candidate, has said low morale and frustration have become major challenges confronting personnel in the Nigerian military, citing a recent conversation he had with a group of soldiers in Enugu while reflecting on the conditions under which many security operatives currently serve across the country.
Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV, Opara said he recently met with some soldiers in Enugu and engaged them in a discussion about their experiences in service, noting that the encounter gave him a deeper understanding of the concerns and uncertainties many military personnel face despite their commitment to protecting the nation.
“I met some team of soldiers in Enugu. When we were discussing, they told me that any person I see in the Nigerian military today at their level is a frustrated person. Even those who are still serving are doing it because, if they drop the gun, what are they going to do?”
Opara said the remarks made by the soldiers should encourage greater attention to the welfare and future of members of the armed forces, adding that improving working conditions, creating better career opportunities, and providing stronger post-service support would help boost morale while strengthening national security and confidence among personnel serving the country with dedication and professionalism……See More
