ADC: “Not That I Don’t Like The Party, I Hate The Individuals Involved, I Don’t Like Them -Wike

According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Thursday, April 30, 2026, Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has said the Supreme Court’s judgment delivered on Thursday has settled the long-running leadership dispute inside the Peoples Democratic Party, maintaining that the party is still united despite the controversy that followed the ruling.

Speaking with journalists at his residence in Abuja on Thursday, Wike said the court’s decision has brought clarity to the issue and removed the uncertainty that had surrounded the party’s internal battle over its leadership structure.

The FCT minister said the PDP should now move beyond the disagreement that has trailed the matter, stressing that the judgment of the apex court has addressed the questions that had fueled tension within the party.

He maintained that the development should be seen as a final legal position on the matter rather than a fresh source of division.

The Supreme Court, in a split 3–2 decision, voided the party’s national convention held in Ibadan on November 15 and 16, 2025.

The convention had produced a leadership structure supported by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, but the court ruled that the exercise could not stand in law

In its majority judgment, the court held that the convention went ahead in violation of existing court orders, it stated that the PDP was required to meet certain conditions before proceeding with the exercise, but those conditions were not fulfilled before the convention was held.

The court also criticised the party for going ahead with the convention despite the earlier directives, a position that formed part of the basis for the majority ruling.

Wike also used the occasion to comment on developments within the African Democratic Congress, saying the party’s internal crisis remains unresolved after the court’s directive on the matter.

While reflecting on the wider political climate, Wike drew a clear line between political parties and the individuals who operate within them, saying the actions of some actors have created deep problems in the country’s political space.

He repeated his position on those involved in the disputes, framing his comments around the conduct of specific persons rather than the organisations themselves.

“Not that I don’t like the party, I hate the individuals involved. I don’t like them. They are part of the people who have plunged Nigeria into problems,” Wike stated……See More
