A leader from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has spoken out against the political views of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, saying they are counterproductive and hard to defend.
Ulasi shared his thoughts on Thursday during his appearance on Arise News Morning Show, where he expressed his worries about the escalating issues within the PDP.
The PDP veteran, who claims to be one of the party’s original founders, stated that it pains him to see the level of internal conflict plaguing the opposition party right now.
He questioned how Wike, seen as a prominent member of the PDP, could publicly endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
“It is very counterproductive and hard to justify for Wike to be the leader of the PDP while backing Bola Tinubu.
“You cannot claim to lead a national party that hasn’t yet held its primaries, with no candidate chosen, and say you’re supporting the current president,” Ulasi remarked.
He went on to ask what Wike’s role would be in PDP campaign events, like rallies, if his allegiance lies with the ruling party.
“What will Wike do during our rallies? He must clarify his position,” he said.
Ulasi warned that if Wike cannot give a reasonable explanation for his stance, he might have to rethink his active participation in political affairs.
“If I am not convinced, the public will hear my voice,” he mentioned, noting that he could choose to withdraw from party politics and work as a private political advisor instead of switching to another party.
These statements highlight the increasing discord within the PDP, as internal conflicts and changing loyalties continue to influence the party’s path leading up to upcoming elections…..See More
