Oliver Kahn has expressed concerns about travelling to the United States following the return of Donald Trump to power, according to Daily Post.
The former Germany international made the remarks while speaking to Sky Sport Germany ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Kahn suggested that recent developments in the United States have made it difficult to feel comfortable about visiting the country, pointing to issues he believes are not aligned with certain values.
“There are simply so many things happening in the USA right now that are no longer compatible with our understanding of values,” Kahn said.
The former Bayern Munich goalkeeper did not go into detail about all the concerns he referenced, but indicated that global events, including conflict situations, have contributed to his perspective.
Kahn concluded by stating that the current situation makes it difficult to approach travel to the United States with a positive mindset.
“You can’t go there with a good feeling at the moment,” he said.
