According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Sanusi Bature, who serves as the spokesperson to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has stated that a potential presidential collaboration between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso would not be successful.
He made it clear that such a political arrangement between the two figures is not feasible based on current political realities and differences in their positions.
His remarks centered on the incompatibility of both individuals within a joint presidential arrangement.
According to him, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso holds a firm perception of Peter Obi that affects the possibility of any alliance.
He explained that Kwankwaso views Obi as someone associated with pro-Biafra sentiment, which creates a major political and ideological gap between them.
He further stressed that both politicians operate from different political understandings and approaches, making coordination in a joint ticket difficult.
Bature made these statements during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, where he discussed political developments and speculations surrounding possible alliances.
During the interview, he addressed questions relating to the chances of collaboration between leading political figures ahead of future elections.
His comments were focused on clarifying the position of the Kano State government’s political camp regarding such a pairing.
He further emphasized that the differences between both politicians extend beyond party structures and into personal political interpretations.
He noted that Kwankwaso’s political alignment and beliefs do not align with those of Peter Obi, which further deepens the divide between them.
These distinctions, according to him, contribute to why discussions about a joint ticket are considered unrealistic within their political circles.
The spokesperson also referenced differences in academic background as part of his explanation during the interview.
He pointed out that such distinctions are often mentioned in political conversations involving both figures, adding to the complexity of their public perception.
He maintained that these factors, alongside ideological differences, influence how the possibility of a joint presidential ticket is viewed.
He reiterated that the political environment and existing perceptions between the two leaders do not support the formation of a combined presidential ticket.
He maintained that the issue is not based on speculation but on how both individuals are understood within their respective political alignments and relationships, which remain distinct and separate in orientation.
He said, “When you see Obi in Kano, for us it is a big surprise because the same Kwankwaso who said he has a PHD is with Obi who has an undergraduate degree.”…….See More
