Nollywood actor Ifeanyi Kalu has opened up about the foundation of his marriage, saying his decision to marry his wife was driven by a shared sense of purpose, spiritual compatibility, and career alignment rather than emotions alone.
Speaking during an interview on Chudeity, the actor explained that while love played an important role in his decision, he was equally convinced that he and his wife were aligned in their values, faith, and professional aspirations. According to him, these shared qualities have strengthened their relationship and enabled them to navigate the uncertainties of life together.
Kalu said he believes marriage should be built on a purpose that extends beyond romantic feelings, adding that he sought a life partner with whom he could pursue common goals. He noted that he and his wife have intentionally developed a relationship centered on mutual support and a shared vision for the future.
Reflecting on what attracted him to his wife, Kalu said, “I married my wife because of purpose. I love her, but I could see a lot of alignment, especially spiritually and career-wise as well. And I love her and everything just worked. That was everything that drew me. And of course, praying and all of that and God’s direction. It’s all about purpose, and if God sees that this is purpose, he supports it.”
The actor explained that spirituality played a significant role in their journey to marriage, saying prayer and seeking God’s direction influenced the decision they eventually made. According to him, he believes that when a relationship is rooted in purpose, it receives divine guidance and support.
Beyond discussing the values that shaped their marriage, Kalu also spoke about how he and his wife manage their careers in the entertainment industry. He said they both approach their work with a business mindset, recognizing that acting can be unpredictable and that financial stability requires careful planning.
According to the actor, Nollywood is an industry where acting opportunities can fluctuate, making it important for professionals to prepare for periods when jobs are limited.
