2027: “No One Was Defeated In ADC Primary; We Are One Party And Have To Unite Now” -Abubakar Says

Atiku Abubakar, the newly elected presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on all party members and aggrieved stakeholders to close ranks immediately following the conclusion of the party’s highly competitive internal primary elections.

He stressed that the focus of the party must now shift entirely toward building a strong opposition coalition capable of challenging the ruling establishment in the 2027 general elections, rather than allowing internal disagreements to weaken their collective strength.

According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Atiku made the remarks while addressing party faithful, delegates, and former contestants in Abuja shortly after emerging victorious at the primary.

Speaking during his address, the former vice president emphasized unity and reconciliation among party members, insisting that the outcome of the primary should not be seen as a division but as a shared democratic process.

“This is not the time to celebrate because no one was defeated, and since we are one party, we must recognize the urgency of the moment and unite as we pledged,” he stated.

Atiku further explained that internal competition within the ADC was never intended to produce divisions but to strengthen the party’s democratic credentials and prepare it for the larger political battle ahead.

He called on all aspirants who participated in the presidential primary to see themselves as stakeholders in a common mission aimed at national transformation and political restructuring.

The seasoned politician specifically reached out to his prominent fellow contestants, including former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and businessman Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, urging them to join forces with the party leadership.

According to him, the strength of the ADC lies in its ability to integrate diverse political figures into a unified platform capable of presenting a credible alternative to Nigerians in 2027.

Atiku emphasized that reconciliation and cooperation were essential if the opposition hopes to mount a serious challenge in the next general election.

“Every one of us has a role to play. What matters now is not individual ambition but the collective goal of rescuing Nigeria and rebuilding its institutions,” he reportedly told party members.

He maintained that the ADC primary process demonstrated internal democracy at work, noting that such contests should strengthen, rather than weaken, political parties when properly managed.

Atiku also urged supporters across the country to remain focused and avoid inflammatory comments that could deepen divisions within the party structure……See More
