As reported by Vanguard News on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the situation within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State escalated after Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, demanded the disbandment of the Justice Forum and Mandate Movement groups due to accusations of election manipulation in the party’s primaries.
During a gathering with market leaders and stakeholders at her office in Alausa, Ikeja, Tinubu-Ojo, who is the daughter of President Bola Tinubu, criticized the way the House of Representatives primaries were conducted in Mushin Constituency I, Agege Constituency II, and Ojokoro. She claimed that the rightful winners in those areas had their victories taken away and given to other candidates.
She denounced what she called political interference and cautioned against actions that could undermine the wishes of party members. Tinubu-Ojo also expressed her frustration over the alleged neglect of traders by elected representatives, despite the significant support market women and traders provided to the APC and their role in its electoral successes in Lagos.
She pointed out Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo in Agege Constituency II, Seye Oladejo in Mushin Federal Constituency, and Olotu Emmanuel Ojo in Ojokoro as candidates who she believed rightfully won their primaries before there were attempts to change the results.
Tinubu-Ojo claimed that the APC should eliminate both the Justice Forum and Mandate Movement because the ongoing conflict was hurting the party. She noted that some candidates who won under the Mandate Forum later joined the Justice Forum, calling the situation discouraging and unfair to dedicated party members.
She maintained that Seye Oladejo and Olotu Emmanuel Ojo truly won their elections, warning that party supporters were ready to protest if their victories were not returned. According to her, members had initially chosen to stay calm while waiting to see how party leaders would handle the situation.
She urged APC leaders at both state and national levels to look into the contested primaries and ensure justice before the final results were confirmed. She also cautioned that ignoring these issues could deepen divisions within the party as the 2027 general elections approached.
Tinubu-Ojo reiterated the dedication of market women in Lagos to support Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat’s gubernatorial campaign and other APC candidates nationwide, but emphasized that traders deserved more recognition and inclusion in politics due to their loyalty and sacrifices for the party.
She additionally urged President Bola Tinubu to acknowledge traders as vital contributors to the nation’s progress.
In a parallel development, some dissatisfied APC members and supporters in Mushin threatened to stage large-scale protests if Seye Oladejo’s disputed mandate was not restored. The demonstrators accused the leadership of the Justice Forum faction of attempting to impose candidates and undermine internal democratic processes within the APC…..See More
