Aisha Yesufu, an outspoken human rights activist and 2027 senatorial hopeful, has declared her unwavering commitment to legislative independence and executive accountability if elected. According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Arise News on Monday May 25, 2026, while clarifying that her loyalty lies with the Nigerian masses rather than any political figure, she stated, “if Peter Obi becomes President of Nigeria, he cannot bring frivolous loan applications to the Senate and expect Aisha Yesufu, representing the FCT, to approve them.”
The prominent activist stressed that her transition into partisan politics under the banner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress does not mean abandoning her long-standing principles of advocacy.
