‘I Heard N34.6Trn Was Missing From The Federation Account, I Read It From The World Bank’ -Amaechi

Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has alleged that a World Bank report indicated that 34.6 trillion naira is unaccounted for from Nigeria’s federation account, arguing that the alleged missing funds alone could have been channelled into mass housing and job creation across the country.

Speaking on Arise TV, Amaechi said, “Just imagine that we build 200,000 social houses in Kano. And people say, ‘Where will they get the money from?’ I heard that 34.6 trillion naira was missing from the federation account. I read it from the World Bank that we collected 84 trillion naira and 34.6 trillion naira is missing. That alone can build houses.”

Amaechi used the housing example to illustrate the enormous employment potential that comes with large-scale public investment, noting that building 300,000 homes would directly engage 300,000 carpenters and 300,000 contractors at minimum and that the economic effect would cascade far beyond that as payments flow down the chain and engage even more Nigerians in productive work.

He extended the same argument to agriculture, calling for the creation of a dedicated hedge fund that would give Nigerians not just farming equipment but actual capital to pursue large-scale mechanised farming whether in poultry, date farming, or other sectors…..See More
