According to a report by Arise News on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has commended the conduct of the party’s ongoing primaries, describing the process as peaceful, transparent and accommodating to party members across the country.
Basiru made the remarks during an interview on Arise News on Monday, where he assessed the performance of the ruling party in the conduct of its internal electoral activities.
He said the exercise had recorded a high level of orderliness and participation in different states.
According to him, the primaries reflected the party’s commitment to ensuring that members at various levels were carried along in the decision-making process.
He noted that party supporters and delegates had been actively involved in determining candidates through the ongoing exercise.
The APC national secretary also stated that the process had remained largely calm in many parts of the country, adding that the conduct of the primaries demonstrated the party’s organizational strength.
He maintained that members had been allowed to take ownership of the process without unnecessary interference.
Basiru further explained that the level of participation witnessed during the exercise showed that the party leadership was committed to maintaining openness and fairness in its internal democratic procedures.
He added that the engagement of members from different regions had contributed to the smooth conduct of the primaries.
He also praised party officials and stakeholders involved in coordinating the exercise, saying their efforts helped to ensure that the primaries were conducted in an orderly manner.
He stressed that the process had given members the opportunity to express their choices through active participation.
“I think I will score our party very high in terms of organization and in terms of the outcome of the exercise. By and large, the exercise has been very peaceful, the exercise has been very inclusive, and the exercise has been very engaging, and of course, allowing the party members from across the breadth and length and breadth of the country to take charge of the processes itself,” he stated…….See More
