On My Wedding Day, My Mum Told Me I Could Leave If I Don’t Want To Get Married -Dabota Lawson

Nigerian entrepreneur and former beauty queen Dabota Lawson has revealed that her mother once gave her the option to walk away from her wedding on the very day it was supposed to happen.

She shared this emotional moment during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on the talk show With Chude, where she spoke openly about her past marriage and the concerns her family had at the time.

According to her, although the wedding was elaborate and celebrated publicly, her parents were not completely comfortable with the decision. She explained that her mother approached her shortly before the ceremony and told her that she could still leave if she was not certain about going ahead with the marriage.

She said the statement showed how worried her family was about the situation. She admitted that at the time she was only 24 years old and not fully prepared for the responsibilities that come with marriage.

Another concern, she explained, was how quickly the relationship developed. Lawson revealed that she and her former husband got engaged just two weeks after they first met, which meant there was little time for them to truly understand each other before making such a major decision.

Coming from a comfortable and protective family background, she said her parents only wanted to be sure she was making the right choice.
