A young woman identified as Antonia has been rescued in Delta State after a frightening experience with a man she reportedly met online. According to a report aired on TVC News, Antonia explained that she had been communicating with the man online for some time. After several chats, he invited her to visit him and she agreed to meet him in person.
However, instead of taking her to his house or any public place, the man allegedly led her to a bush. She claimed that he was not alone, as another man was present. During the incident, she was reportedly tied to a tree.
Antonia further alleged that while she was held there, the men transferred all the money from her bank account. The exact details of how the transactions were carried out were not disclosed in the report, but she stated that all the funds in her account were withdrawn.
Fortunately, members of a local vigilante group later found and rescued her. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the dangers of meeting strangers online without proper caution.
Residents have advised young people to be careful when forming relationships on social media.
